An 80-page annual report points out housing costs currently are 356 percent higher than the nation’s average, adding “the sentiment that ‘Orange County is an expensive place to be poor’ is more than just a sound bite; it is a reality.”

Work was delayed 10 days after workers discovered a piece of shim — a pin 4 inches by a half-inch — came loose while a canister was being loaded.

 

OC Register: Anaheim voters will choose new mayor, elect three council members Nov. 6

Mayor Tom Tait has reached his term limit and will be replaced by one of eight people running for the citywide seat. The first four council district seats were on the 2016 ballot. This time, districts 2 and 6 will hold their first district-only elections, and District 3 will return to the ballot for the second time in two years.

I was troubled to read about Anaheim Police Sgt. Michael Lozeau, who confronted a Voice of OC reporter last week for simply taking his photograph during a traffic stop in Anaheim involving homeless people. To be clear, we stand by our reporter.

New Jersey.com: Striking workers can now get unemployment benefits in New Jersey

Under the new law, workers can file for unemployment insurance in labor disputes when an employer violates the terms of an employment contract or collective bargaining agreement.
