The age group with the highest rate of opioid-related deaths from 2011-15 in Orange County was 45-54, followed by the 55-65 age group.

The fire, first sparked Aug. 6, allegedly by an arsonist who is in custody, has been burning for more than a week and has prompted thousands of evacuations in Orange and Riverside counties and forced the closure of a Highway 74, also known as Ortega Highway.

 

OC Fair: OC Fair hits 2018 attendance record of 1.4 million visitors

Nearly 20,000 fairgoers passed through Heroes Hall and more than half of them tried out the “Bravemind” virtual reality exhibit, fair spokeswoman Terry Moore said. Visitors can expect another special military exhibit at the 2019 fair, she said.

OC Register: Legislature passes bill to protect renters who call 9-1-1.

California lawmakers on Thursday unanimously passed a bill to protect tenants from being thrown out of their homes for calling 9-1-1 in an emergency. The proposal takes aim at local ordinances that can result in a tenant being labeled a “nuisance” — a cause for eviction — because they called for help.
