The bill has been closely watched in OC as the community grapples with an ever-worsening homelessness crisis. It would create the Orange County Housing Finance Trust, a joint agency among city and county officials to coordinate and speed up funding to build permanent supportive housing.

Monday’s filing from resident Wendy Leece would place about a third of mayoral candidate Sandy Genis’ candidate statement on the chopping block. Leece alleges that portions are false, misleading and improperly reference and denigrate an opponent.
Daily Pilot: Disputed needle-exchange program hears frustration from crowd at town hall meeting
The town hall was the first since the California Department of Public Health last month approved the program’s proposal for a mobile needle-exchange service to distribute clean needles and other supplies to try to prevent the spread of diseases among intravenous drug users.
Associated Press: Disney World would raise starting pay to $15 an hour by 2021 if deal is approved
Disney’s unionized workers will vote in early September on the proposal to raise the starting minimum wage from $10 to $15 an hour by 2021. The deal covers about half of Disney World’s 70,000 workers in metro Orlando.

OC Register: California pay hikes rank 5th best in the nation, by this yardstick
Southern California workers were not as fortunate. In the four counties covered by the Southern California News Group, a total of 7.52 million were employed in the first quarter, up 2 percent. Weekly wages ran $1,183, up 2.5 percent.

The new agreement is far from final. The administration still needs to negotiate with the third partner in NAFTA, Canada, to become part of any new trade accord. Without Canada, America’s No. 2 trading partner, it’s unclear whether any new U.S. trade agreement with Mexico would be possible
