On Sept. 11, 2001, more than 2,600 people died in the World Trade Center, more than 380 were killed on planes and at the Pentagon, and 411 safety personnel died. One of the hijacked planes crashed into a Pennsylvania field after passengers fought to retake the aircraft.

Associated Press: Job openings reach unprecedented levels, and so does quitting

The Labor Department said Tuesday that the number of job openings rose 1.7 percent to 6.9 million, the most on record dating back to late 2000. The number of people quitting jumped 3 percent to 3.58 million, also a record.
