California 2022 COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave Ends Oct. 1

Dear OCEA member,

We’re writing to inform you that California Emergency Paid Sick Leave for COVID-19 will end effective Oct. 1, 2022. This constitutes a significant change to your COVID-19 related leave options. The last pay period you will be able to post EPSL/SPSL will be pay period 21 through Sept. 30, 2022.

If you are taking qualified COVID-19 leave during the time the law expires, you will still be able to utilize EPSL/SPSL until your 2022 COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave allotment is exhausted.

Effective Oct. 1, 2022, you will need to use your accrued compensatory time, healthcare leave, vacation leave, and/or annual leave balances to cover absences related to COVID-19.
