OC Register: Rents in Los Angeles, Orange counties up 5.6%, biggest hike since 2007

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the slice of the CPI tracking the cost of renting show this expense in Los Angeles and Orange counties rose at a 5.6% annual rate in March vs. 4.8% a year earlier. The last time rent inflation was greater in any March was 2007.

 

Voice of OC: Eighteen more homeless died in OC in March

According to published reporting (Jill Repogle, Laist, March 6), last year, the County was able to place 300 previously homeless people into permanent housing. Yet we memorialized here 244 who died “without fixed abode” during the previous year as well.

A beloved park in north Orange re-opened Saturday, April 13, after its first major face lift in more than 50 years. The $7.5 million, 19-month renovation of Shaffer Park includes a rebuilt community center and a new LED lighting and an exercise circuit.
