OC Register: Winter shelter program at Orange County armories begins soon with enhancements to better serve homeless people

The Fullerton Armory at Brookhurst Road and Valencia Drive is scheduled to open at night to homeless people beginning Oct. 15. The start of winter shelter at the Santa Ana Armory in the south part of the city on Warner Avenue is expected to be Nov. 15.

Fullerton homeless people living in their cars will at some point be able to legally park and sleep in an area within the city, which mostly prohibits overnight parking, and will have access to bathrooms and homeless services.

OC Register: California economic growth at 3-year low, by this new index

The index used for this story tracks 10 yardsticks of the state’s economy. The initial reading shows this summer with the slowest growth since 2016. That falls within the economy’s recent theme of gains, just smaller ones.
