AMEA Part-time Membership Campaign Underway

Dear AMEA Member,

AMEA is campaigning to bring new workers into our union! Our greatest strength is our strength in numbers so adding more workers makes AMEA even stronger. Along with hundreds of full-time workers, AMEA currently represents close to 300 part-time workers in the City.

On December 8, 2021, the following email (below) was sent to approximately 60 part-time City workers who are eligible for union membership but have yet to sign-up. Please take a moment to review the email below. If someone you know did not receive the email and is in one of the following job classifications, have them contact OCEA Lead Organizer Carlos Rosales at CRosales@ocea.org to be added to our email list or forward the attached membership materials to them!

Dear Anaheim City Workers,

Most Anaheim workers belong to the Anaheim Municipal Employees Association (AMEA). AMEA is where City workers stand together to have a voice at work. It is through AMEA that City workers can improve their wages, benefits, and job security. Did you know part-time employees have the right to join the Anaheim Municipal Employees Association? In accordance with applicable local laws and the awareness of City management, AMEA is conducting a membership drive!

AMEA currently represents close to 500 full-time employees in all City departments. AMEA also proudly represents nearly 300 part-time employees throughout the City. These employees who work part-time do so under the coverage of the AMEA Part-Time Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). These employees have access to the benefits and protections of the MOU including:

  • Professional representation in negotiations and in individual matters.
  • Bilingual Pay.
  • Holiday Pay.
  • Ability to appeal unjust discipline.
  • Access to the OCEA Special Events program, which provides discounted admission to movies, theme parks and other Southern California events and attractions.
  • Access to FREE life insurance benefits as a member of AMEA.
  • And much more!

For you to be represented by AMEA, we need you to fill out a membership card and return it in one of several different ways:

These Cards are due to AMEA no later than February 18, 2022.

AMEA leadership and staff will be contacting you this month to follow up and to answer any questions you might have. In the meantime, please review the AMEA website with some of the frequently asked questions others have had about the benefits of AMEA membership.

Thanks, and we look forward to meeting all of you!
