CMCEA Negotiations Update: June 22, 2022

Dear CMCEA member,

Your Negotiations Team met again with the City on June 15 where we received a response to the proposal we submitted on June 1.

It’s important to note that in negotiations even though the Union and the City may often start on opposite sides of the spectrum, the negotiations process is crafted to bridge whatever gap exists. Although we are currently far apart, we optimistically continue to work toward a contract that will reflect your contributions with fair and equitable wage increases. Proposals are now available for review on the City’s website.

As part of the City’s Strategic Objectives plan, the City has stated they want to strengthen competitiveness in the labor market to attract and retain the best possible candidates. Despite our differences at the negotiations table to date, we have a mutual interest in this goal. We are motivated and committed to continue to fight for wages and benefits that acknowledge your value to the City and competitively attract talented workers going forward.

With negotiations in full swing, NOW’S THE TIME TO GET INVOLVED! Please make sure you attend our monthly board meetings—our next one is at 12 p.m. Thursday, July 14. We’ll send the location in a future update.

If you have questions please contact your CMCEA Negotiations Team, and stay tuned for more updates!

In Solidarity,

CMCEA
