Court Negotiations Update - Sept. 19, 2019

Dear OCEA member,

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019 the Court and your OCEA Bargaining Team met for a sixth negotiations session. The team did not meet last week.

Progress was definitely made.  First, we continued to move forward on wage enhancements. However, we still have significant distance between our wage proposal and the Court's.  Second, we reached tentative agreements on several other bargaining objectives, leaving further wage enhancements as the remaining priority to be resolved over the next few weeks.  We have four more meetings scheduled at this point (October 3, 9, 16 and 23) and will update you after each bargaining session.

If you want to help the OCEA Bargaining Team, please join the Union Action Team (UAT)! The UAT is a group of OCEA members who help support bargaining efforts by serving as the “eyes and ears” of the union in the workplace. They relay important information and communications to their co-workers including negotiations updates. UAT members participate in monthly meetings and conference calls. If you are interested in joining the Union Action Team, you can go to www.ocea.org/getinvolved

A union is working people standing together to make positive changes in the workplace. The bargaining team and UAT members are working hard to make sure positive change happens.

In Solidarity,

Charles Barfield, Lead Negotiator
OCEA General Manager
