FMEF Negotiations Update December 23, 2021

Dear FMEF member,

Your FMEF Bargaining Team met with representatives from the City on Dec. 22, 2021. Continued progress was made in the area of wages but the offer still does not reflect the pay you and your families deserve.

Another bargaining session is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2022. We will be asking for clarification on Article 57 of the MOU outlining the conversion of regular positions to non-regular (non-union) positions. Once we get the information, we can determine if Article 57 conforms to labor law. We will also follow up on our request for details about how recently passed budget cuts will impact workers.

The City's irresponsible budget cuts has added to the uncertainty inherent in bargaining. It is inspiring to see the commitment FMEF members have shown in keeping up the pressure at City Council meetings and at the bargaining table. Your "No Cuts," message and calls for restoring City services have earned you community awareness and support.

With that in mind, let's enjoy the Holidays with our family and friends. Standing together, we are going to stay in this fight.

In Solidarity,

Veronica Rodarte
Sr. Labor Relations Representative
