Garden Grove Negotiations Update: Tentative Agreement Details

Dear Garden Grove Employee, 

Your coalition bargaining team representing the Garden Grove Employees League and Garden Grove City Employees Association has reached a tentative agreement on the terms and conditions of a new Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Garden Grove. Last week we informed our proposals were being discussed during the City Council’s closed session (read our last update here). During our June 21 negotiations session, it was evident the Councilmembers heard our message loud and clear.

The City made significant movement and communicated its desire to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Our multi-hour bargaining session finally concluded with a hard-fought agreement! The Garden Grove Employees League and the Garden Grove City Employees Association Negotiations Team unanimously recommend ratification of this Tentative Agreement!

Here are some highlights of the agreement. You can read the entire tentative agreement here.

• 3-Year Agreement
• 9% in total base wage increases for ALL employees (3% per year)
• Cafeteria benefit enhancements
• Longevity Pay for workers with 20+ years of service

Your Negotiations Team unanimously recommends members ratify this agreement! If ratified, the agreement will be voted on by the City Council at its June 28 meeting. If adopted by the Council at that meeting, terms and conditions will go into effect July 1!

Garden Grove Employees League members will be able to vote in-person at two meetings taking place June 22 and June 23. Please speak with GGEL President and Negotiations Team member Mike Rocha for details.

Garden Grove City Employees Association members can vote in-person from Friday, June 24 to 12 p.m. Monday, June 27 at one of three locations:

• City Hall, 1st Floor—Dana Saucedo
• Police Department—Brandy Park
• Finance Department, 1st floor—Jennifer Peterson
