LPS Update: Feb. 14, 2020

Earlier this week the OCEA LPS team and the Court met to review the initial findings of the LPS market study.

As you may recall, the process included the Court’s review of the duties of LPS workers, and how these duties and compensation compare to those in neighboring courts. OCEA is represented at the table by OCEA members Mary Reynolds, Emma Castle, Robert Renison, Robert Hendricks, Perla Elias, and Diana Gonzalez. The members are joined by OCEA staff.

At that meeting, the Court provided the committee their initial recommendations on duties and compensation. The next step in this process is for the team to meet and review the recommendations and findings by the Court to determine if they are in line with our internal data. The team will meet with OCEA Staff in advance of the next meeting with the Court and will be heavily relied upon as subject matter experts to ensure proper comparable data was used. We will be prepared to challenge any data that is not deemed comparable to the work of the Orange County Superior Court LPS, if warranted. We are scheduled to meet with the Court later this month and will keep you all apprised. Just a reminder, this is a process so your patience is greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to reach out to any of the LPS committee members or an OCEA staff representative for more information.
