March 3rd Election! Vote-by-mail ballots are on the way

Dear OCEA member,

The March 3rd Primary Election is right around the corner, and ballots are already arriving in your mail box.

One way we can protect jobs and support all of the OCEA members who keep our communities running smoothly is by working together and supporting candidates for political office who have demonstrated they stand with working people and advance sound public policy.

2020 is a historic year for elections in Orange County. For the first time, Vote Centers strategically placed across the County will replace neighborhood polling places. Every registered voter will get a vote-by-mail ballot and there are now more options for how you can turn in your completed ballot. Go to www.ocvote.com for more information.

Your OCEA Board of Directors has endorsed candidates who have demonstrated commitment to protecting you at work, candidates who support fair pay, safe working conditions, a secure retirement and a belief that the public workforce promotes the public’s well-being.

We respect and understand that every OCEA member has a number of different values they bring into the voting booth that can extend beyond your family’s financial security. However, it’s our job as your union to let you know which candidates would have a direct impact on your ability to provide for your family, and these endorsements represent that advice. You can view OCEA's Voter Guide below. To find out how you can get involved in the upcoming election, please click here.

The famous statesman of ancient Greece, Pericles, once said, "Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you." Standing together, we can help choose the representatives who value the contributions made by working families to our community.

In Solidarity,

Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
