New Wages/Retirement Contributions Now in Effect

Dear OCEA member,

We received several calls from our members regarding County worker pay raises negotiated by your OCEA Bargaining Team and adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2019.

Today, July 2, 2021, marks the effective date of your 2.5% general wage increase and a further 1.2% decrease in Reverse Pick-Up retirement contributions. That’s a net effect increase in your gross income of 3.7%.

These new rates will be reflected in your pay received on July 23, 2021.

I want to thank the members of the OCEA Board of Directors and the OCEA Bargaining team, who put in countless hours to hammer out the MOU. Also, a huge thank you to OCEA Stewards and members who support our efforts at the bargaining table by organizing in the workplace.

This 4th of July weekend, we celebrate our country’s Independence Day. As we get together with our families, we can reflect on the many freedoms Americans have sacrificed to maintain. One of these is the right of working people to come together in their unions and negotiate for fair wages and the benefits that protect their families.

Freedom is never given. It’s always earned and so are the wage increases you are receiving. It’s a privilege to stand together with you in making sure the working families of OCEA get the dignity and respect they deserve on the job.

Happy 4th of July weekend!

In Solidarity,

Charles Barfield
OCEA General Manager
