OC Sanitation District Adopts MOU

After a bargaining process that stretched past six months – and began with an unacceptable wage offer we had to reject – a solid majority of the Orange County Sanitation District Board voted last night to approve our contract. It’s official—we have a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The package is unchanged since you and your coworkers overwhelmingly approved the contract earlier this month:

  • 3.0% effective the first pay period in July 2019;
  • 3.0% effective the first pay period in July 2020; and
  • 3.0% effective the first pay period in July 2021.

Here’s the really good news - you will be receiving a retroactive check back to the first full pay period of July. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at saregaye@ocea.org or Danielle Chau at dchau@ocea.org.

In addition, the agreement provides for a $155 increase to Stand By Pay and an increase of $7.12 per pay period to Certification Pay.

Collectively, you all did a great job standing together in solidarity and sent a clear message, not only as a bargaining unit, but also standing with the other District unions. We know that Board members were moved by the level of your commitment to the District and the people it serves.

I want to thank the members of the OCSD Bargaining Team for their unity and commitment to ensure you and your coworkers receive the fair wages, benefits and working conditions that you deserve.

It has been a privilege to stand with you during this process.
