OCEA, Superior Court reach Tentative Agreement

Dear OCEA member,

The OCEA bargaining team and the Orange County Superior Court reached a tentative agreement on a successor agreement to our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The agreement terms can be viewed below. The bargaining team recommends a “Yes” vote on this agreement. Online voting begins at noon on Monday, October 28th through 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 31st.

This agreement comes after eleven negotiations sessions that have spanned three months. During this time there have also been multiple member meetings at each Justice Center, as well as ongoing involvement by OCEA Stewards and Union Action Team (UAT) members. There remains much to accomplish, but this contract provides money in OCEA members’ pockets and begins to effectively address long-standing cultural challenges in the Court.

OCEA General Manager and lead negotiator Charles Barfield will discuss specifics of the tentative agreement at two OCEA membership meetings Monday, October 28, 2019 from Noon-1 p.m. and 5:15-6:15 p.m. (Both meetings will cover the same topics). The location is OCEA Headquarters, 830 N. Ross Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701. Food will be provided so please RSVP at rsvp@ocea.org to make sure we order enough.

In Solidarity,

Charles Barfield, OCEA General Manager
Lead Negotiator
