PCEA Negotiations Update: July 14, 2025
Dear PCEA member,
As you may know, your PCEA negotiations team is currently negotiating your next MOU. We met with the City for the first time July 1, 2025, where we presented our first proposal.
Given the cost of living, wage comparisons from other cities, inflation, and many more factors, we presented the City a proposal for a 2-year contract that addresses wages, market adjustments, equipment allowances, standby pay, medical insurance, longevity pay, and more.
We met again with the City Wednesday, June 10, at which time the City presented us with a counterproposal for a 1-year deal that rejected most of our initial proposals, as the City claims—as it always does—that there is no money for employee wage increases.
We will continue to advocate at the table and at the City Council level to secure a fair contract that recognizes your dedication to the City of Placentia and its residents.
PCEA urges the City to reevaluate its priorities and to respect its workforce by countering our justified proposals with reasonable responses, instead of issuing a broad rejection of our requests. We’ll continue to update you as negotiations progress. Please stay informed, because we may call on you and your co-workers to fight alongside us if needed.
In Solidarity,
PCEA
