PCEA Negotiations Update: Council Action Forces City to Finally Offer Wage Increases
Dear PCEA member,
Your solidarity made a difference! After months of the City saying there was no money and offering no wage increases, your strong presence at Tuesday's City Council meeting pushed for a change.
We met with the City today and received a new proposal that includes:
- Wage increases in both years (not the unacceptable 0% they proposed before)
- Increases in medical contributions
The City Manager noted how many PCEA members attended, and it clearly had an effect. Your presence sent a strong message that PCEA members won’t be overlooked.
While we haven’t finalized a deal yet, this shift shows what we can achieve when we stand together. We went from the City rejecting almost everything to having real wage increases on the table. That’s the strength of working together.
We’re hopeful about this progress and will keep fighting to reach a tentative agreement that truly meets our members’ needs. Thank you to everyone who adjusted their schedules, took personal time, and stood with us on Tuesday. You made this possible.
We’ll keep you updated as negotiations move forward. Please continue to stay informed and involved.
In Solidarity,
Your PCEA Negotiations Team
