APPLY TODAY: 2023 OCEA Scholarship Increased to $2,500

Dear OCEA member,

The 2023 OCEA Board of Directors Scholarship will be awarded to three applicants this June. With ongoing inflation causing a rise in the cost of living, your OCEA Board of Directors has increased the award amount for each recipient from $2,000 to $2,500 for each scholarship.

Applications can be downloaded by clicking here and must be submitted at OCEA or postmarked by June 2, 2023. You can also scan and email the completed application and supporting materials to info@ocea.org.

Eligibility requirements include:
Applicant is a child or stepchild of an OCEA member; or
Applicant’s legal guardian is an OCEA member; or
Applicant’s financially responsible grandparent is an OCEA member.

To qualify, students must also be enrolled—or intending to enroll—in an accredited community college, college or university, or an accredited trade, vocational/technical school for the Fall 2023 quarter or semester.

A selection committee will review each student’s high school transcripts, current GPA and personal recommendations. Each applicant must also submit a 750-word essay describing how they would use their college education to improve the lives of working families. The essay will be the greatest determining factor in selecting scholarship winners.

The OCEA Board of Directors is committed to supporting the next generation of strong union leaders and these annual scholarships reflect that commitment. Good luck to all who choose to apply!

In Solidarity,

OCEA
