Superior Court Negotiations Update: Oct. 17, 2022

Dear OCEA member,

On Friday, Oct. 14, the OCEA bargaining team and the OC Superior Court met for our sixth negotiations session. If you missed previous negotiations updates, you can review them HERE. During our negotiations session we spent much of the day discussing wages. OCEA is fighting for a fair wage increase for all OCEA members.

We have made clear to the Court that our bargaining team will not settle for any MOU that does not provide meaningful wage increases. OCEA members are on the frontline during the pandemic. We keep the Court running. Yet we fall further and further behind economically under the strains of inflation and increased costs-of-living. Our members have been underpaid for too long, and it is time for change.

The Court indicated to OCEA that their team believes our wage proposal is still too high. We have made clear that the Court must understand the day-to-day struggles of rank-and-file workers. Our negotiations team held the line and pushed back on the Court to move its wage proposal higher. The session concluded and the Court will present OCEA with a counterproposal at our next meeting.

We meet again on Friday, Oct. 21. We also have a membership meeting scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21, at West Justice Center. More information is below.

In Solidarity,

OCEA
