Wage Enhancement for OCEA members

Last summer the OCEA bargaining team reached a short-term bridge agreement with the County. This agreement came after months of bargaining during a time of tremendous challenges. Barriers outside of our control emerged, most notably the sudden turnover among the County’s lead negotiators and top officials in County Human Resources. Despite these barriers, the one-year bridge agreement put money in your pockets immediately, preserved critical benefits such as Annual Leave, and allowed us to continue to discuss important issues impacting and your family.

When the agreement was ratified and adopted by the Board of Supervisors, OCEA-represented members received a 1.5% wage increase. You will receive an additional 1% wage increase effective Jan. 4. This 1% increase will be reflected on your Jan. 25 paycheck.

The OCEA bargaining team has been meeting since the last MOU was adopted to prepare for negotiations in 2019. The OCEA bargaining team will soon send out bargaining surveys and provide opportunities for you to advocate for you and your family.

The work of public service allows us to protect and empower our community. Standing together in our union allows us to protect and empower every worker. 2019 negotiations will no doubt be challenging, but standing together there is nothing we can’t do.
