On May 26, 2022, the Garden Grove Employees League and the Garden Grove City Employees Association Negotiations Team met with City representatives for our second negotiation session. At our first meeting, we presented our initial proposal to the City and presented our rationale behind each proposal. Recall that our team reviewed the regional public sector market, inflation, health care costs, retirement costs, city budget data and most importantly the 2022 Negotiations Survey to craft our initial proposal.

Court Negotiations 2022 Kickoff

The Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) that cover OCEA-represented employees at the Orange County Superior Court are set to expire on Oct. 27, 2022. Negotiating a new agreement is the most important action the union embarks upon. Our MOUs determine our rate of pay, healthcare arrangement, grievance procedure, ways to balance our work and home life, and more. These are the most important things that exist for us and our families.

SSO Election Update: May 23, 2022

It is time to hold an election for the SSO Board of Directors. The SSO Board advocates for SSO benefits and protections through negotiations with the OCSD Command Staff and the County of Orange. The positions of Vice Chair and Secretary are up for election. Officers serve 2-year terms. We are soliciting the names of those interested in joining the SSO Board.

The overall theme of our demands was to bring dignity, respect, and support to the workers who serve our most vulnerable residents.

The Sanitation District has provided us their proposed changes to several classifications, based on the Class and Comp Study they recently conducted. We have only received the Classification portion but should be receiving the Compensation portion of the study during upcoming negotiations sessions.

Court Reporter Update: Legislative Watch!

Last week an email went out regarding Senate Bill 848. This bill would eliminate the sunset provision for remote appearances in specific civil court proceedings. We have been conducting a series of lobby visits on SB 848 and our opposition to the bill. There is a chance the bill's author may accelerate the timeline and bring it to the floor as early as this week!
