After hard-fought negotiations, your OCEA negotiations team has reached a tentative agreement with the County. This three-year agreement provides you, every other OCEA-represented worker, and your families the fair wage increases you deserve: 4.75% effective the first full pay period after adoption by the Board of Supervisors, 4.25% effective June 28, 2024, and 4.0% effective June 27, 2025—a total of 13% over three years!

Negotiations can be challenging, and it’s not always clear how certain moments in time fit into the bigger picture. Last year, many of you attended City Council meetings each week to advocate for a fair raise. Those efforts had a lasting impact and are reflected in the current tentative agreement.

The BCEA negotiations team met with the City for a negotiation's session on Thursday, June 1. BCEA hears you—and the City recognizes—that a number of job classifications are not within market and adjustments are needed!

As you recall, our proposal—crafted from your survey results, the economic climate, inflation, and the effect these circumstances have on you and your family— puts wages first.
