As you know, your OCEA workplace leaders along with OC Firefighters Local 3631 spent the summer and early part of fall traveling to the home councils of the JPA’s Board members. We reminded them of the peril Board members subject their communities to when they fail to treat OCFA employees with dignity, respect, and common sense.

CMCEA Negotiations Update: Oct. 21, 2022

After nearly 10 months of negotiations, your CMCEA bargaining team is nearing a tentative agreement with the City. We last met with the City on October 17, 2022, to receive their eighth and final proposal. We also spent a significant amount of time discussing substantive and non-substantive changes to the existing language in our MOU.

OC San Dues Increase

Last year the OCEA Board of Directors wanted to take positive action to ensure that going forward members would not face large, unexpected dues increases. They therefore implemented a general policy effective calendar year 2022 to raise dues only when general wage increases occur, and to limit the dues increase to the same percentage that wages increase.

AMEA Negotiations Update: Oct. 17, 2022

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, the AMEA bargaining teams met with the City to present our latest proposal. As you recall, AMEA’s initial proposal ​was based on your responses to the 2022 Negotiations Survey, regional market research, inflationary pressures, past negotiations history, and the ever-changing current labor market. Consistent with member input, AMEA’s proposal has base building wages as its centerpiece.

Superior Court Negotiations Update: Oct. 17, 2022

On Friday, Oct. 14, the OCEA bargaining team and the OC Superior Court met for our sixth negotiations session. If you missed previous negotiations updates, you can review them HERE. During our negotiations session we spent much of the day discussing wages. OCEA is fighting for a fair wage increase for all OCEA members.

2022 COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave Extended to December 31, 2022

Governor Newsom has signed Assembly Bill 152 (AB 152), which extends 2022 COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) to December 31, 2022. However, AB 152 does not provide additional EPSL hours. Workers will have to use their existing EPSL hours for absences that meet eligibility requirements.
