Laguna Niguel Negotiations Update & Membership Meetings

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the OCEA ratification meeting on Tuesday, May 2. At the meeting members of each bargaining unit represented by OCEA (the Maintenance, Clerical and Technical, and the Middle Management Professional and Supervisory) voted whether to approve or reject the tentative agreement reached during negotiations.

Meeting Postponed for IHSS Summer Vacation Guidelines

The County postponed our meeting with SSA Management regarding the Summer Vacation Guidelines recently sent to IHSS workers to Monday, May 11. As you know from our previous email, we need more input from IHSS workers like yourselves. This postponement allows us more time to include the voices of you and your co-workers in this process.

IHSS Summer Vacation Guidelines Update

OCEA is aware of the Summer Vacation Guidelines recently sent to IHSS workers. Thank you to those who reached out about this issue. We were advised during the last Caseload Management Forum that a revised policy regarding summer and holiday time off requests was forthcoming. However, no details were shared at the time.

A safe workplace is the value that drives all other needs. COVID-19 has put public servants directly in harm's way. Further, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has increased the number of positive cases exponentially. We know that many of you are concerned about your health and the well-being of your family. We want to remind everyone that the Court has extended the Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) benefit that was provided as part of early COVID-19 relief efforts through June of 2022. EPSL allows for workers to take necessary time for COVID-19 related illnesses.
