Urgent - OCWDEA Membership input needed

As you know, the OCWDEA Board has been negotiating a successor MOU with District representatives. We have reached a point in negotiations where your Association Board wants to solicit your input. Part of the District’s proposal is a $75 per member per pay period ($1,950 per year) deferred compensation match—but that match is contingent on our agreement to a 5-year term with fixed annual wage increases.

OCEA demands meet and confer with County re: Cal/OSHA revisions

Earlier today, County Executive Officer Frank Kim sent County workers a memorandum via email regarding proposed revisions to Cal/OSHA Emergency Temporary Standards. The memorandum contained a description of changes the County intends to implement regarding face coverings, physical distancing, and future requirements applicable to members of the public.

Late yesterday, Chief Executive Officer David Yamasaki sent court employees an email regarding proposed revisions to Cal/OSHA Emergency Temporary Standards. The email contained a description of changes the Court intends to implement regarding face coverings, physical distancing, and future requirements applicable to members of the public.

2021 OCFA Bargaining Begins

June 15, 2021

Negotiations have begun for our two OCEA-represented bargaining units at the Orange County Fire Authority and we are looking forward to reaching a fair contract. Your Bargaining Team and Labor Representatives had an initial meeting with the Authority’s Bargaining Team on June 10th. We are scheduled to meet with them again on June 17th.

Overtime changes for Senior Social Workers

June 9, 2021

There is an important change in how overtime is paid to Sr. Social Workers (SSW) that takes effect on June 18, 2021. In response to a recent audit of the classification by the Department of Labor, the County has determined that the Sr. Social Worker classification Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status must be changed going forward from exempt to non-exempt. The Social Services Agency and the Health Care Agency will send notifications to all impacted SSWs soon.
