Superior Courts
OCEA members in the Superior Courts are represented by union stewards and a professional staff of labor relations representatives. Standing together, every OCEA member in the Superior Courts plays a role in achieving better wages, retirement security and fair rights on the job.
The information below is a resource for all OCEA members in the Superior Courts. Below, you will find a list of stewards and staff representatives for OCEA members assigned to the Superior Courts. You’ll also find the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is the negotiated union contract that sets forth the wages, hours and working conditions guiding your employment. And you can also find updates and news from OCEA about what’s happening in your agency and across the County.

Court survey deadline extended to April 26
April 19, 2019
Negotiations is fast approaching! Our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ends in October of this year. The first step in this process is to hear the priorities directly from the membership through the 2019 Court Bargaining Survey.
OCEA Court Bargaining Survey
April 9, 2019
One of the best ways your Court Bargaining Team can prepare for negotiations on a successor agreement is by hearing directly from you about your priorities in the workplace and those of your co-workers. The bargaining survey is an effective and efficient way for you to communicate those priorities, and the results will inform and guide your Bargaining Team moving forward.
Court executives obstruct funding advocacy in Sacramento
March 25, 2019
As you are all aware, OCEA has been incredibly active this year advocating for additional Superior Court funding in Sacramento. Since January OCEA members and staff have been to the Capitol four times, our Sacramento political consultants have been in constant contact with legislators, and we have even secured a letter signed by every Orange County Assembly member in support of $110,000,000 in additional Court funding.
Court Funding Update - March
March 18, 2019
Recently we updated the membership regarding Court Funding. The state budget covers every aspect of California Government including the Judicial Branch. In his budget Gov. Newson included additional funding to the Court system. This is positive. However, the budget again does not go far enough to truly alleviate the decade of budget austerity faced by the Judicial Branch. Recall that the budget is first presented by the Governor in January each year.

March 13, 2019
OCEA will be conducting site visits at each of the Justice Centers to provide supplemental information on the market study and PDQs. See below for details.
New voting system shows elections matter
February 27, 2019
Yesterday’s vote by the Board of Supervisors to establish Voting Centers in Orange County offers us another compelling example of why elections matter.
Court member update: Jan. 31, 2019
January 31, 2019
Happy 2019! Our union will be gearing up for 2019 bargaining over the next couple of months. In doing so, members will receive a Bargaining Unit survey which is the single most important tool we use in understanding the needs of membership.
