Update: County-wide accrual glitch

Some of you have noticed that the accrual amounts for this pay period in the County's VTI payroll system are incorrect. That is because of a county-wide glitch in the system.

OCEA v. County of Orange Oral Argument Scheduled

We have just received notice that oral argument in our case against the County has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2019.

Court MOUs Ratified

I am writing to let you know that members of all three OCEA-Court bargaining units have ratified their tentative agreements with the Court. All workers in the General, Court Clerk, and Supervisor Units will see the terms and conditions of the new contract go into effect in the pay period starting November 8, 2019.

OCEA Endorses Hinkle for San Clemente City Council

On Tuesday, November 5th, the City of San Clemente is holding a special election. The winner will fill a vacancy on the City Council created by the untimely death of Steven Swartz who was serving as Mayor at the time. Voting is taking place by mail only, and you should have received your ballot by now.

Voting continues through Thursday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.

I want to thank the OCEA members who attended our membership meetings yesterday at OCEA. Based on some questions and comments at those meetings, I want to clarify a few things about the tentative agreement so you can base your vote on accurate facts.

Reminder! Court membership meeting on Monday, Oct. 28

Earlier this week, OCEA and the Superior Court reached a Tentative Agreement on a successor MOU for OCEA represented employees in the Court. The agreement includes base building wages, meaningful savings on retirement costs, a one-time signing bonus for ALL workers, and an extra week of vacation to reward long-serving workers. The OCEA Bargaining Team recommends a “Yes” vote on the MOU.

OCEA, Superior Court reach Tentative Agreement

The OCEA bargaining team and the Orange County Superior Court reached a tentative agreement on a successor agreement to our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The agreement terms can be viewed below. The bargaining team recommends a “Yes” vote on this agreement. Online voting begins at noon on Monday, Oct. 28 through 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.
